Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
Platform-as-a-Service or PaaS consist of a complete technology platform, including application development, interface development, database development, storage, and testing, delivered as a hosted solution to Consort subscribers.
Services Description
Consort is currently devising a PaaS strategy that will give organizations the ability to create enterprise-class applications for use locally or on-demand. Developers will be able to deliver applications right out of this platform, on demand, using development tools that are delivered on-demand. This online environment will be delivered by Consort via a subscription model.
Our Statement of direction regarding PaaS
Unlike services that "dumb down" development so any user can build apps, Consort's PaaS solutions will be directed at the professional developer market.
Developers will be able to build highly interactive, secure, and reliable desktop-like apps that can use multiple web services and databases in a single, on-demand environment. In order to be a true platform, all the systems and environments comprising the end-to-end lifecycle of developing, testing, deploying, and hosting web applications will be present. When all of those items are present in the cloud, you have a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
Consort will offer developers an end-to-end service so applications can be developed, debugged, tested and deployed all within the same environment.
With no need to worry with changing environments, developers can now focus on building feature-rich apps, not just making sure they work. The new Model
New to PaaS? Welcome!
If you’re just starting to explore the concept of PaaS, Consort will be the place to start and find out what PaaS can do for you, understand different types of PaaS solutions, and learn more about developing PaaS applications.
This model is driving a new era of mass innovation. For the first time, developers around the world can access unlimited computing power. Now, anyone with an Internet connection can build powerful applications and easily deploy them to users wherever they’re located.
By leveraging PaaS, organizations can redirect a significant portion of their budgets from “keeping the lights on” to creating applications that provide real business value.
